Fuel price transparency infrastructure for Ireland.

FuelWatch has built the first community-powered fuel price platform covering all 32 counties of Ireland. The dataset and API are available for licensing to qualified partners in media, research, fleet management, and navigation.

The Platform

Built for Ireland, by its drivers.

FuelWatch is a free, community-powered fuel price application for iOS, Android, and the web. Drivers across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland submit prices from their local forecourts, depots, and chargepoints. The platform processes those reports, validates them against a self-calibrating statistical model, and presents clean national averages and per-station comparisons without delay.

Coverage spans 1,500+ locations across all 32 counties. Four distinct fuel layers are supported:

Car Fuel
Petrol and diesel at forecourts nationwide. The largest and most active layer, with community reports going back to early 2026.
Home Oil
Kerosene (home heating oil) at oil-merchant depots. Covers the domestic heating sector not visible in forecourt data.
Green Diesel
Agricultural and marine diesel at specialist depots. Relevant to farming, fishing, and haulage sectors.
EV Charging
Public charging points mirrored from OpenChargeMap, filtered to operational public chargers in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
The Dataset

A growing historical record of Irish fuel prices.

Since early 2026, FuelWatch has accumulated a continuously growing archive of community-submitted fuel prices. Every report is timestamped, geo-located, and linked to a specific station. The data captures daily national averages and granular per-station trends across all four fuel layers.

This is community-sourced data, not a licensed commercial feed. Its strength is breadth and independence: the FuelWatch community collectively observes prices across forecourts, depots, and chargepoints that no single commercial data collector monitors with comparable density.

Coverage Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland (all 32 counties)
Station count 1,500+ locations across car fuel, home oil, green diesel, and EV layers
Fuel types Petrol, diesel, kerosene (home heating oil), green diesel
Price unit Euro cent per litre (Republic of Ireland); pence per litre (Northern Ireland) with euro conversion available
Granularity Per-station timestamped reports, aggregated to daily national and county averages
Data origin FuelWatch community reports (crowd-sourced). Station location metadata from OpenStreetMap (ODbL).
History Continuous from early 2026, growing daily
Validation Self-calibrating statistical envelope: reports outside three median absolute deviations of the community median are flagged and do not update national averages

Who We Work With

The dataset has value across several sectors.

FuelWatch is open to licensing arrangements with organisations that share our commitment to transparency and the responsible use of price data. Below are the use cases we can support.

Media
News organisations and broadcasters
County-level price comparisons, daily and weekly trend data, and national average series suitable for infographics, data journalism, and crisis tracking. The dataset can underpin coverage without reliance on commercial price feeds.
Research
Academics and policy researchers
A longitudinal, geo-located record of retail fuel prices across a full island dataset is rare. Access is available for academic research, economic analysis, and public policy work. Standard data-sharing agreements apply.
Fleet
Fleet operators and fuel managers
Organisations managing road fleets can integrate FuelWatch price signals into procurement, routing, and cost-reporting workflows. API access enables automated price monitoring across the network of locations relevant to a given fleet.
Navigation and Mapping
Navigation and mapping services
Community-reported prices at 1,500+ Irish stations and heating-oil depots can enrich in-car navigation, trip-planning applications, and mapping platforms with Irish-specific coverage not typically available in pan-European feeds.
