Effective date: 30 March 2026 · Last updated: 8 April 2026
1. About FuelWatch.ie
FuelWatch.ie ("FuelWatch", "we", "us", "our") is a community-powered fuel price comparison platform operated by Alex Santos, trading as FuelWatch.ie, registered in Ireland. Our platform is available via web at fuelwatch.ie and via mobile applications on iOS and Android ("the Service").
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
2. Data Sources and Ownership
Station location data displayed on FuelWatch is compiled exclusively from publicly available, open-licensed sources, including OpenStreetMap (under the Open Database License) and publicly accessible brand store locators. FuelWatch does not use, access, or rely upon any privately owned or proprietary third-party API to source its data.
Fuel prices displayed on FuelWatch are submitted by community users of the platform. FuelWatch does not source, scrape, or obtain fuel price data from any third-party platform, API, or proprietary database.
All community-submitted data (including but not limited to fuel prices, verification reports, and user contributions) becomes the property of FuelWatch.ie upon submission and may be used, stored, aggregated, and published by FuelWatch in the operation of the Service.
3. Permitted Use
The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial use by individual consumers seeking to compare fuel prices in Ireland. You may access and use the Service for your own personal reference and decision-making.
4. Prohibited Use
You may not, without the prior written consent of FuelWatch.ie:
Access the Service by automated means, including but not limited to bots, scrapers, crawlers, spiders, or any form of automated data collection or extraction tool.
Extract, copy, reproduce, redistribute, republish, store, or make available to any third party any data obtained from the Service, whether in whole or in part, for any purpose whatsoever.
Use data obtained from the Service to build, supplement, or operate any competing product, service, database, or application.
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, database structure, or underlying data architecture of the Service.
Access, query, or interact with any FuelWatch API, database endpoint, or data feed except through the intended user-facing interfaces of the Service, unless expressly authorised under a separate written agreement.
Frame, mirror, or embed any part of the Service on another website or application without written permission.
FuelWatch reserves the right to monitor access patterns and to block, restrict, or terminate access to any user or IP address engaging in prohibited use without prior notice.
5. Database Rights
The FuelWatch database, including the selection, coordination, arrangement, and presentation of data, is protected under the EU Database Directive (96/9/EC) and applicable Irish law. FuelWatch.ie claims sui generis database rights over the collection as a whole.
Unauthorised extraction or re-utilisation of a substantial part of the database, or repeated and systematic extraction of insubstantial parts, is prohibited.
6. Community Contributions
By submitting fuel price reports, reviews, or other data to the Service, you grant FuelWatch.ie a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, store, modify, aggregate, publish, and sublicence the submitted data in any form and for any purpose related to the operation, improvement, or promotion of the Service.
You represent that any data you submit is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you have the right to submit it.
7. Accuracy and Disclaimer
Fuel prices on FuelWatch are community-reported and may not reflect current prices at any given station. FuelWatch makes no warranty, express or implied, as to the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or reliability of any price or station data displayed.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." FuelWatch disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
FuelWatch shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or expense arising from reliance on information provided through the Service.
8. Payment and Access
Access to FuelWatch may require a one-time payment as displayed at the point of purchase. All payments are final and non-refundable except where required by applicable consumer protection law (including the European Union Consumer Rights Directive).
Payments made via Apple App Store are processed by Apple Inc. and are subject to Apple's terms. Payments made via the FuelWatch website are processed by Stripe and are subject to Stripe's terms of service.
9. Open Data and Government Use
FuelWatch.ie is designed to support the development of fuel price transparency in Ireland. Where FuelWatch enters into formal agreements with government bodies, regulatory authorities, or statutory agencies, access to aggregated data or API services may be provided under separate commercial terms.
Nothing in these Terms grants any government body, regulator, or third party automatic access to FuelWatch data without a written agreement.
10. Photo Price Scanning
The Service includes a photo-based price scanning feature. When you use this feature, your photo is sent to a third-party AI service (Google) for text extraction. The image is processed in real time and is not stored by FuelWatch. Only the extracted price data is retained.
FuelWatch does not store, share, or use the photos you submit for any purpose other than extracting fuel price information. No images are retained after processing.
Use of this feature is subject to a daily limit per user. FuelWatch reserves the right to adjust these limits at any time.
11. Third-Party Attribution
Station location data includes data from OpenStreetMap, licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL). © OpenStreetMap contributors.
12. Termination
FuelWatch reserves the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ireland. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ireland.
14. Changes to These Terms
FuelWatch may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when the Terms were last revised. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
