Community-reported petrol, diesel, home heating oil, green diesel, and EV charging prices across County Galway. From the city's ring road to the end of the Connemara peninsula.
County Galway has a more divided fuel landscape than almost any other Irish county. Galway City and its immediate suburbs, including Salthill, Oranmore, and the Tuam road corridor, have a strong cluster of forecourts competing for commuter and through-traffic. The city is the regional hub for Connacht, meaning the N17 north to Sligo and Mayo, the M6 east to Athlone and Dublin, and the N18 south to Limerick all radiate from the city with major stations along each route.
East Galway, from Ballinasloe through Loughrea to Athenry, is well-served by roadside stations on the M6 motorway and the older N6. These towns have their own local forecourts as well as large national-brand stations catering to motorway traffic.
West Galway and Connemara are a different story. The Clifden road (N59), the Cong route into Mayo, and the Oughterard corridor all pass through areas with very few stations and significant distances between them. Fuelling up in Galway City before heading west is a common pattern. The Aran Islands (accessible by ferry from Rossaveel) have extremely limited and expensive fuel supply.
Agriculture across south Galway (Loughrea, Portumna) and the Aran Islands' small-boat fishing sector generate demand for green diesel. Home heating oil is the dominant heating fuel across most of rural Galway.

Open FuelWatch to see community-reported prices near your location. Galway City and Oranmore tend to have competitive pricing because of the density of stations on the ring road and the N18. The further west you go into Connemara, the fewer options are available.
Remote areas like Clifden, Roundstone, and Leenane have fewer stations and higher distribution costs. Community members who travel those routes can report prices on FuelWatch to help other drivers plan accordingly.
Yes. Home heating oil is the primary heating source across most of rural Galway. FuelWatch's Home Oil layer covers oil merchant depots serving the county, with particular coverage of routes into Connemara and south Galway.
