FuelWatch Is Now 100% Free. Compare Petrol and Diesel Prices Across All 32 Counties of Ireland.

FuelWatch.ie, Ireland's community-powered fuel price comparison platform, is now completely free. The app — which was previously paid — covers more than 1,500 petrol and diesel stations across all 32 counties of Ireland. With diesel above €2.00 per litre and the government's excise duty cuts set to expire at the end of May, Irish drivers need fuel price transparency more than ever.

Why we made FuelWatch free

We heard your requests. Since FuelWatch launched in March 2026, drivers from every corner of Ireland have told us the same thing: this should be free. With the fuel price crisis hitting household budgets harder every week, we agree. Removing the paywall means every Irish driver — not just those who can afford to pay — can now compare prices and choose the cheapest station before they fill up.

The Iran conflict pushed oil prices from around $70 to nearly $120 per barrel. Diesel crossed €2.00 per litre for the first time since 2022. The Irish Road Haulage Association has warned that fuel prices are approaching the level of a “national emergency.” The government responded with excise duty cuts — 20 cent per litre on diesel and 15 cent on petrol — but those measures expire at the end of May, and even with the cuts, prices remain at historic highs.

Making FuelWatch free also means any news outlet, radio station, or motoring journalist can recommend it to their audience without hesitation. There is no paywall, no subscription, no catch. Just open the app and compare prices.

How much can you save on fuel in Ireland?

The savings from comparing fuel prices before you fill up are real and measurable:

During a fuel crisis, those savings matter. A family with two cars filling up weekly could save over €280 per year simply by checking FuelWatch before choosing a station. That is money back in your pocket at a time when every cent counts.

What you get — no catch, no ads

Frequently asked questions

Is FuelWatch really free?
Yes. FuelWatch used to be a paid app. It is now 100% free with no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, and no ads.
How does FuelWatch get its fuel prices?
Prices are community-reported. Drivers across Ireland submit the petrol and diesel prices they see at the pump, and those prices become visible to everyone on the platform.
How many fuel stations does FuelWatch cover?
More than 1,500 petrol and diesel stations across all 32 counties of Ireland, including Northern Ireland.
How much can I save on fuel?
A 5 cent per litre difference on a 55-litre tank saves approximately €2.75 per fill. On weekly fill-ups, that adds up to more than €140 per year. Many areas show price gaps of 10–15 cent per litre between nearby stations.
Is FuelWatch available on iPhone and Android?
FuelWatch is available on iOS (App Store) and as a web app at app.fuelwatch.ie. Android is coming soon — join here to get early access to the pre-release app.
Why was FuelWatch previously paid?
FuelWatch launched as a paid app to fund development. With the fuel price crisis affecting every driver in Ireland, the decision was made to remove all barriers to access so that everyone can compare prices and save.
