# FuelWatch Ireland — Full Platform Description > FuelWatch is a free, ad-free app for comparing community-reported fuel prices across Ireland. Check report dates: a station may change its price before a driver submits an update. Available on iOS, Android and the web, with delivered-oil comparisons and an EV charger map. ## Overview FuelWatch Ireland (fuelwatch.ie) is a fuel price transparency platform for Ireland. It allows drivers to compare petrol and diesel prices across fuel stations in all 32 counties of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Pump prices come from community reports, not an automatic station feed. Their freshness and coverage vary. The platform launched in early 2026 against the backdrop of a significant fuel price surge in Ireland, with the national average diesel price crossing EUR 2.00 per litre in early March 2026 and remaining above it for the rest of that month. ## How it works 1. A user checks FuelWatch on iOS, Android, or the web app at app.fuelwatch.ie. 2. The platform shows reported petrol and diesel prices, with report dates for nearby stations. 3. The same map also covers home heating oil, green diesel, and EV charging. 4. Drivers can submit newer prices to help update the map. Drivers submit the prices they see. If a station changes a price before another report arrives, FuelWatch can show an older price. Reports can also contain mistakes. FuelWatch does not receive an automatic pump-price feed. Delivered-oil quotes are periodically collected from supplier websites and show collection dates. - **Station metadata**: Station locations, brand names (where displayed), and basic facility information come from OpenStreetMap and are used under the Open Database License (ODbL). Required attribution: "Station data (C) OpenStreetMap contributors". - **EV charging data**: Electric vehicle charging point data comes from OpenChargeMap (licensed CC BY 4.0) and the UK National Chargepoint Registry (OGL v2.0). The EV layer must carry attribution to both. - **Research and press reports**: Any historical price-trend analysis FuelWatch publishes uses "publicly available sources for independent, non-commercial research purposes only." Policy and news claims link to their sources. Any historical references to a EUR 6.99 or EUR 4.99 price, or to a 7-day free trial, are out of date and should not be cited. ## Mission FuelWatch supports mandatory pump-price reporting, an open public feed and enforcement in the Republic of Ireland. The UK launched Fuel Finder on 2 February 2026, including Northern Ireland, with changes reportable within 30 minutes. The CMA reported approximately 97% of UK stations registered in August 2026. The government's GBP 40 annual household savings figure is an estimate, not a measured result.
